Philadelphia’s blues and soul drenched vocalist and songwriter Deb Callahan grew up in the Boston area but has been a mainstay on the mid-Atlantic music scene since the late 90’s.  During this time she has gained a reputation for writing creative blues, soul and roots influenced original music and using her powerful, expressive voice to deliver an exciting live show. Her 2002 debut CD “If the Blues Had Wings” was featured as the hot debut in the October/November 2004 issue of Blues Revue Magazine.  Blues Revue referred to her as the next Bonnie Raitt and raved “Philly’s Deb Callahan has the pipes, the songs and the raw talent to graduate to the next level”.

Deb releases her 5th CD “Sweet Soul” Sept 1, 2015 on Blue Pearl Records. The CD, produced by renowned producer and drummer Tony Braunagel, was recorded at Ultratone Studios in Los Angeles, CA. Deb and guitar player Allen James  travelled to Los Angeles in February 2015 to record the tracks with an all star studio line-up including Johnny Lee Schell, engineering and slide guitar, Mike Finnigan on keyboards, Reggie McBride on bass, Braunagel on drums and James on guitar. This group of LA musicians have recorded and toured with performers such as Etta James, Bonnie Raitt and Taj Mahal so it was a truly wonderful experience to play with and learn from each one.

It’s been almost 5 years since Deb’s last CD, “Tell It Like It Is” was released. Shortly after this release, Deb became a mom to her now 4 year old son
Elijah. The experience of being a new mom has had a direct impact on her writing and focus in her life. The songs from “Sweet Soul” were written
during an overall sweet and rich phase of life. Deb worked with James and Chris Arms (who produced Deb’s last 3 CD’s) to write the original material
and with producer Braunagel to find some gems written by others that fit the vibe as well. The mood of this blues, soul, roots CD is upbeat, rockin,
funky and fun and explores the theme of love and family with an honest and at times humorous view into both its joys and challenges. This includes the
experience of loving a child or partner, the connection and sweetness you feel when you slow down and just be present with ones you love, the pain
and difficulty of letting go of a family member, the ups and downs of living with someone, the inner tension about balancing family and career, the
energy it takes to keep things running to do a lot of different things in life.

Doing  social work in the heart of Philadelphia would be a good place to learn  about life’s hard knocks and this urban school ground taught  singer/songwriter Deb Callahan well.   Her rich, honest and soulful tunes resonate with listeners and run the gamut from soulful ballads, to upbeat, dance oriented grooves.  Her road tested band includes Allen James, Garry Lee and Tom Walling.  Deb is working on her 5th CD which she is hoping to release sometime in 2014.

grunge quoteCallahan’s voice has the spiked fervor of contemporary Susan Tedeschi, but it’s richer and smoother.  Stylistically she’s picked up a lot from one of her earlier influences, Nina Simone – Simone’s squirming rhythms and hypnotic vocals reverberate in Callahan’s music.”  “Deb Callahan is a shouter, a crooner, a soul-belter and above all a gifted lyrical interpreter.  She could sing the phone book and make it sound good.”

– Living Blues Magazine Feb 2011

She has shared the stage with Buddy Guy, Billy Preston, James Cotton, Shemekia Copeland, Hubert Sumlin, Debbie Davies, Savoy Brown, Big Jack Johnson, Sean Costello, The Holmes Brothers, Phil Guy, Deanna Bogart, Ann Rabson, Nick Curran, Southside Johnny, Floyd Lee, NRBQ, Joe Bonamassa, Guitar Shorty, Little Ed and The Imperials, Bob Margolin, Paul Cebar, Tommy Castro, Anthony Gomes, Johhny Lee Hooker Junior, Sister Monica Parker, Marcia Ball, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, Duke Robillard, Eric Lindell and many more.

With an extensive background in gospel and a lifelong passion for soul music, Betty Fox has come a long way from her southern roots to headlining festivals and captivating thousands with her raw swagger and unwavering talent. Now the 2015 representative of the Suncoast Blues Society, an International Blues Challenge Finalist, and 2 time winner of Creative Loafing’s Best of the Bay, she is truly proving herself a force to be reckoned with.

Betty Fox appreciated singing early in life and performed for the first time at a church play at the age of 4. Her family had a deep love for southern country gospel and tight harmonies which they would express at every Easter, Thanksgiving, and Christmas, and that is where her affinity for music began. "My uncle Fred would pound on the keys with his monster hands while my (rather large) family and I would all gather around the piano... My grandmother would stand behind me and my cousins would hold my hands as we all sang four and five part harmonies to songs like “It Is Well With My Soul”, “The Old Rugged Cross”, and “Till the Storm Passes By”. To this day, those songs and those moments mean more to me than anything", Fox says.

After honing her craft for 20 years, her debut album, “Too Far Gone”, put her on the international map as a songwriter and vocalist and had the critics from American Blues Scene Magazine to Blues Revue Magazine singing her praises! Her Sophomore album, "Slow Burn" was released in June 2015,  and is already receiving rave reviews from Blues DJ's, critics, and enthusiasts around the world! It will surely take her farther than she ever imagined.

To support her talent, she has carefully selected musical heavyweights  Barry Williams on bass, and Tony Cintron on drums and a rotation of choice guitar players (Josh Nelms, Steve Laudicina, Matt Walker, and Ed Wright)  to set herself up for nothing less than well deserved success. In fact, in the past year this dynamic quartet has skyrocketed to the Florida spotlight, playing on multiple notable music festivals including the world renowned Tampa Bay Blues Festival, and the largest free music festival in the US: Springing the Blues. This band has competed in the International Blues Challenge making it to the finals 8 of 150 bands! They have opened for such artists such as Mavis Staples, Lucky Peterson, Jimmy Thackery, Marcia Ball, Southern Hospitality, and The Meter Men, for crowds amassing over 6,000 screaming fans! As many will tell you, you definitely don't want to miss this one of a kind musical experience!

Blues, Roots Rock and Soul, featuring the high-octane boogie piano and soulful vocals of Victor Wainwright and backed by one of the most gifted bands on the scene: the WildRoots. With the release of BOOM TOWN, their latest record, they’re poised to ignite blues/roots fans with a sound that’s infectious and impossible to ignore.

As Victor and producer/writer Stephen Dees celebrate 10 outstanding years of musical partnership that began with Wainwright's 2005 solo debut PIANA' FROM SAVANNAH, they’re teaming up once again to deliver a blues and American roots tour de force. After the 2011 release of the critically acclaimed record LIT UP!; The WildRoots are back and they're toting another musical triumph in BOOM TOWN.  Born in Savannah, Georgia, Victor's childhood was filled with music. Surrounded by a musical family family, Victor found himself emulating his Dad's vocals and Grandfather Jessie's boogie-woogie piano playing. Over the last decade he has broadened his artistic scope to encompass nearly every corner of the Blues. Victor’s star is definitely on the rise, having won the coveted Blues Music Award as “Pinetop Perkins Piano Player of the Year” in both 2013 and 2014, as well as anchoring the acclaimed group, Southern Hospitality, whose “Easy Livin’” release made the Top 10 on the Billboard blues chart.  Florida-born Stephen Dees, the nephew of Grand Ole Opry stalwart "Fiddlin" Chubby Wise (Bill Monroe and the Bluegrass Boys), picked up his grandfather's guitar, handed down to him by his father Lamar, at an early age. Stephen's father wanted him to continue their family's country music tradition, but when Dees fell in love with Rock 'n' Roll the die was cast. Dees has toured and/or recorded as bassist/vocalist with Hall and Oates, Todd Rundgren, Pat Travers, Novo Combo {w/ Michael Shrieve} and Foghat, to name a few.

Wainwright and Dees first met in 2004 in Ormond Beach, FL where they were both on the bill of a benefit concert. Stephen was performing with his wife Patricia as a duo called "The Bandees" and Victor with his band "The Deal". Both were very impressed with the other's
performance. The two discovered they shared a mutual cultural identity, having been raised in musical families in the American South, and a deep affection for Blues, R&B and roots rock ‘n’ roll out of the '50s and 60's such as B.B. King, Ray Charles, James Brown, Muddy Waters, Otis Redding, Louis Jordan, Jerry Lee Lewis, Howlin’ Wolf and Little Richard. They discussed the possibility of collaborating on an all-original recording project for Victor paying homage to the music that influenced them both. Dees agreed to produce and co-write what would become Wainwright's 2005 release PIANA' FROM SAVANNAH.  "It's hard to follow the speed limit while this one's playing... Pinetop Perkins would be proud." [Backstage Pass Magazine]

After the release of PIANA' FROM SAVANNAH, and after some outstanding live performances, they knew they had something special and decided to forge a more focused working relationship. Victor Wainwright and the WildRoots were born.

The WildRoots debut CD BEALE STREET TO THE BAYOU was released in September of 2009 launching a successful radio promotion that landed them stellar reviews as well as charting #7 on the Root Music Report “Top 50 Blues”, #2 on the Blues Internet Charts, and #8 on the Tennessee Roots Charts. In addition, they hit #4 on Europe’s Collectif des Radio Blues Charts.

“Extremely diverse with great songwriting, exceptional arrangements, flawless playing and vocals soulful enough to make Otis Redding sit up and take notice” [Bill Wilson - Billtown Blue Notes]

“Victor's piano playing is exciting and soulful, along with his strong vocals. Victor is a blues star on the rise. ” [Honey Piazza, Rod Piazza and the Mighty Flyers]

Their follow up CD LIT UP! was released on June 7th, 2011. It became #1 on Sirius/XM's BB Kings Bluesville channel's “Pick To Click”, #2 on the Collectif des Radio Blues Charts, #13 on the Living Blues Radio Chart, and Victor Wainwright and the WildRoots became Featured Memphis Artist on House of Blues Radio & Blues Breaker of the Week.

“…a riotous, intoxicating run through all kinds of exciting blues territory. The gifted Memphis-based boogie-woogie piano player is backed by the expert WildRoots Band-ablaze with jumping beats, lively saxophones, and some spine-tingling guitar work. Every track is brilliant. Producer Stephen Dees gets it right.” [Living Blues Magazine].

"Wainwright wrote or co-wrote nine of these gems; producer/writer Stephen Dees gets creative credit on 12. These fellows make a great team when it comes to being innovative in a genre that too often sounds repetitive. Lit Up is a knockout album that runs the gamut of blues styles with no weaknesses."
[Ken Rosenbaum ToledoBLADE.com]

"...wherever you put down the needle, it's just pure, dead, brilliant." [Zeitgeist - United Kingdom]

On the new record BOOM TOWN, in addition to Victor Wainwright on Lead Vocals, Acoustic Piano, Electric Piano, and Hammond Organ; and Stephen Dees on Bass, Acoustic & Electric Guitar, Vocals, they’ve assembled an outstanding ensemble of musicians: Patricia Ann Dees on Tenor Saxophone and vocals, Nick Black on Guitar and Vocals, Billy Dean on Drums, Stephen Kampa on Harmonica, Ray Guiser on Tenor Saxophone; and Charlie DeChant on Baritone and Tenor Saxophone.

“After putting a tremendous amount of time, effort and passion into this project, we’re extremely proud of the final recording. I’m excited that we are teaming up with the renowned Roots and Blues label Blind Pig Records to deliver what we feel is our best album yet! [Victor Wainwright]
